People with diabetes are more likely to have high blood pressure. Here is a short animation on how it can affect you and what you can do to lower your risk of it.
When there is too much glucose (sugar) in your blood, your cells become sticky and stick to the inside wall of your blood vessels. When cells start to built up, creating blockages in your blood vessels, it makes it harder for your blood to flow freely without obstruction - meaning your heart has to work harder to pump the blood around your body.
This leads to high blood pressure.
